Learning new skills

Andrea learns new skills in her search for work

The Restart Scheme not only helps people back into work, it also gives them an opportunity to learn new skills and achieve vital qualifications.

Andrea, 51, from Enfield joined the Restart Scheme in February 2022 after being out of work for over a year.

With previous experience working in a primary school, Andrea used her spare time during the pandemic to gain a Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning.

Now, with the help of her dedicated Employment Advisor, Emma Kaal, she has been referred to a virtual college to access further education while she continues to look for work.

Andrea said: “My Employment Advisor’s been very supportive. Emma shows a lot of empathy and helps me to look for jobs.”

Emma said: “Despite the adverse circumstances Andrea has often found herself in, she has always remained optimistic and driven. She is passionate about finding work and any employer would be lucky to have her as part of their team.”

Andrea hopes to find a position in teaching soon as this is where her passion and experience lies.

She said: “I hope to inspire others, just as the team at Maximus are inspiring me and helping me to achieve my goal.”
