Hardeep overcomes barriers to build a new career in security

After four years away from the workforce due to childcare responsibilities, Newham resident Hardeep, 39, was ready to pursue a new career path. With previous caring experience, when she joined the Restart Scheme, she hoped to facilitate a transition into the security sector.

During her first meeting with an Employment Advisor, it became clear that Hardeep’s right-to-work documentation hadn’t been updated since 2005. Complications from a name change and missed deadlines further delayed the process. Her advisor coordinated with government department and Hardeep’s husband to resolve her right-to-remain status.

In the meantime, Hardeep successfully completed SIA training through a member of our Community Partnership Network, ASB Training and secured a role with employer partner, TSS Security Ltd.

To ensure that Hardeep didn’t lose her job opportunity, her advisor arranged for an extension on the employer’s vetting deadline. Once Hardeep received the correct documentation and passed the vetting process, she was also supported in updating her HMRC status.

Hardeep began working as a Door Supervisor, where she is continuing to thrive: “I’m so grateful to Maximus for all the help and support I received, it was a long journey that I couldn’t have managed alone, so thank you to everyone who helped me.”
