Restart Scheme paves way for Paul’s job success
Paul Richards from Huddersfield is celebrating a new job thanks to the Restart Scheme.
When Paul, 59, was referred to the Restart Scheme in September, it had been three years since his last role as a warehouse cleaner. Paul struggled with literacy and numeracy and was finding completing job applications difficult. He began to doubt that he would get back into employment.
Paul spoke to his dedicated Employment Advisor Alice about his concerns, and she put a plan into action to empower him to break down his barriers one by one.
Paul was tasked to complete the literacy and numeracy modules on the Restart Scheme’s Employment Support Hub and used Jobcentre Plus PCs to start the modules. In the meantime, Alice and Paul gathered his CV information, along with copies of his qualifications, and discussed potential roles with Recruitment Agent George.
George and Account Manager James then introduced Paul to Sky Recruitment Solutions and Paul was invited to a trial shift as a Recycling Technician. Following a successful trial, Paul started his new job in November.
Paul said: “I didn’t think I would get a job. I’m now in work – and I feel better in myself now that I am working.”
