Commitment and confidence

Restart Scheme gives Jordan confidence and skills boost

Jordan Berresford, from Chesterfield, has thanked the Restart Scheme for supporting him to not only find work, but learn new skills while on the scheme.

Jordan joined the Restart Scheme, which is being delivered by our partners Reed in Partnership in Derbyshire, in December 2021. He lost his previous role as a football match steward in 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Before his stewarding role, he worked in retail for three years, so when he joined the scheme, this was the sector he was initially interested in returning to, although he remained open to other opportunities, too.

Jordan’s Employment Advisor, Nicola Filsell, helped him to update his CV to attract potential employers, supported him with job searching and improved his basic IT skills.

He attended many group sessions and courses which covered interview skills, CV writing, completing application forms and preparing for mock interviews.

Jordan was committed to returning to work, spending his time in the Restart Scheme office either searching for jobs or attending courses.

He was soon put forward for a Mobile Relief Cleaner role and was excited to learn he had secured the role the very same day as his interview. Since starting his new job in September 2022, he has been thoroughly enjoying himself.

Jordan reflected: “I received a great amount of support from Reed in Partnership. I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the Restart Scheme and highly recommend the scheme to others.”

Nicola Filsell, Jordan’s Employment Advisor at Reed In Partnership, said: “Jordan built up his confidence throughout his time on the Restart Scheme and was always a friendly and honest individual. He had a brilliant mindset and jumped at every opportunity given to him, as well as remaining open to trying new sectors and training to improve himself. Jordan was a pleasure to work with.”
