Finding a job with meaning

Jane finds a job with meaning thanks to the Restart Scheme

With the help of the Restart Scheme and Get Set UK, Jane found a new role that gave her purpose.

Jane Banfol, 48, joined the Restart Scheme in Walthamstow in September 2021 after being unemployed since 2019.

With the help of our delivery partner in Walthamstow, Get Set UK, we are supporting people like Jane to find employment and transform their lives.

She previously worked as a support worker and health care assistant at a mental health facility in a local hospital. Jane asked her Employment Advisor, Anoop, to help her find another meaningful role.

Anoop helped Jane to tailor her applications and talk confidently about her skills to potential employers.

Jane said: “Anoop was very helpful and always kept in regular contact through phone calls and our meetings.”

Jane soon attended Get Set UK’s recruitment workshop for Teaching Assistants, where she secured a job interview.

Following a successful interview, Get Set UK helped Jane purchase work clothes, so she was ready for her new position at a local school.

She is now enjoying every minute of her new role in a specialised primary school that provides support to children with learning difficulties.

She said: “I’m very happy because I’ve now found a role that’s similar to what I was doing before. It allows me to help people which is what I do best.”

“I would definitely recommend the Restart Scheme to anyone looking for work and in need of some help.”
