Hina finds her first job with the help of the Restart Scheme

Hina Sohail has been supported into work for the very first time thanks to Maximus and Reed in Partnership.

Hina, 48, was born in Pakistan, before moving to Germany with her husband at the age of 22.Hina Sohail She had three daughters and later came to the UK with her family in 2006.

She spent much of her adult life caring for her family but after her husband fell ill last year, she decided to begin searching for a new role that would enable her to support them financially.

Hina was referred to the Restart Scheme in Kingston upon Thames in September 2021, and with the help of our partners, Reed in Partnership, found a job within three months.

As English is not her first language, Hina had been struggling with her communication at times and was finding online interviews and video calls challenging.

Her dedicated Employment Advisor, Karen Wynne, offered her tailored support to rework her CV, complete job applications and effectively prepare for interviews.

Hina explained: “Karen helped me a lot with my CV. She was very encouraging and motivating which helped me become more confident.”

She successfully applied for a position as a care assistant in a local care home and started her new job in December.

Reflecting on the Restart Scheme, Hina said: “I found the experience really helpful and encouraging as they were with me every step of the way. I would definitely recommend the Scheme to anyone looking for a job and in need of assistance.”
