Flexible work that fits

Faiza triumphs as a Super Supervisor

Maximus supports Faiza to find flexible work that fits her family life

Maximus is proud to be working in partnership with Bexley Business and Employment, who supported Faiza Ali, 41 from Eritrea, to find a new role through the Restart Scheme.

Faiza arrived in the UK from Saudi Arabia 10 years ago, after her husband sought political asylum.

During her early years in the UK, Faiza was a full-time mother to her two daughters.

She later became a single mother and needed to find work which would offer her flexibility to accommodate her childcare needs.

However, she had never worked before so found the prospect of finding a job incredibly daunting.

In September 2022, Faiza joined the Restart Scheme and met with her Employment Advisor, Zoe Reed, who helped her develop the skills and confidence she needed to apply for part-time roles. Additionally, Zoe encouraged her to join an ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) course at Bexley Learning and Enterprise College, to further improve her English language skills.

Faiza explained: “The advisors are really supportive and helpful. I was given the means to improve my skills and get ready for employment. I’m now a lot more confident when speaking which has made a huge difference in my daily life.”

As a result, she soon secured a role as a Midday Supervisor at a local Primary Academy. The hours are perfect for Faiza and fit in with her childcare needs.

Zoe explained the difference she’s seen in Faiza: “I have seen a massive change in Faiza’s confidence level. She is a great role model for her children and continues to make great progress in achieving her goals.”
