Graduate celebrates success

Tunji becomes first person in Newham to be helped back into work through the Restart Scheme

A young graduate is celebrating three months in his new role, thanks to the support of the Restart Scheme.

Tunji Ibrahim had been unemployed for over 12 months when he was referred to the scheme, which is currently being delivered across several South and East London boroughs.

Since graduating from Leicester University with a degree in Management and Finance, he struggled to find full-time position, predominantly working for agencies on a part-time basis.

His Employment Advisor, Angela, provided training on timekeeping and organisation to prepare him for an office environment. She also helped to rework his CV by changing the layout to effectively showcase his education and qualifications. With this updated CV, he applied for several roles and was offered an interview just days later.

With Angela’s help, he was guided through the interview process and successfully secured a position working as a Mortgage Advisor for a specialist mortgage lender in Central London.

Reflecting on his experience with the Restart Scheme, Tunji said: The advice the team gave me helped me to secure the job. They coached me on the interview process, allowing me to feel comfortable and confident throughout. They helped me with time management training, organisational skills and general support when needed. I found the whole experience with Restart very rewarding. It gave me the confidence to get back into work and the new skills I learnt helped me to handle the transition.”
